Trenches 1-6, 8, and 9 measured 30m in length by 1.8m in width and Trenches 7 and 10 measured 40m in length and 1.8m in width. The trenches were located to test geophysical anomalies and to provide a representative sample of the remainder of the site. In February 2023, Cotswold Archaeology carried out an archaeological evaluation of land east of Court House Farm, Easton-in-Gordano, North Somerset. A total of 10 trenches were excavated. Two sherds of pottery of late 2nd to 4th-century AD date were recovered from the subsoil within a trench excavated in the central-southern part of the site. An artefactually undated ditch was identified cutting the topsoil in a trench excavated in the central-northern part of the site, and is considered to relate to land management, drainage or division of a relatively recent date. A number of earthwork banks, observed in the central part of the site, appear to form part of a field system or drainage network that may correspond with the eastern fringe of a wider 18th to 19th-century field system that is, in part, shown on the 1839 Tithe map of the Parish of Easton-in Gordano and the 1884 First Edition Ordnance Survey map. An irregular deposit of concreted iron/industrial waste, forming part of a larger spread of material identified by a preceding geophysical survey, was identified in a trench excavated in the central
